2. Information We Collect

To provide the ChefsClips service, we collect the following information:

• Account Data: Email address and name (managed securely via Clerk).
• User Submissions: YouTube URLs you submit for recipe extraction.
• Recipe Metadata: The structured ingredients, steps, and timestamps generated by our AI.
• Shopping Lists: Ingredient data you save or choose to export to Instacart.
• Subscription Status: Basic purchase history required to manage your premium features (processed via RevenueCat and Google Play).

3. Content Attribution & Creator Integrity

ChefsClips is a “utility layer” for the cooking ecosystem. We are committed to supporting content creators:

• No Video Scraping: We do not download, store, or redistribute video files.
• Official Playback: Videos are played through the official YouTube IFrame Player. This ensures creators receive full credit for views and retain all associated ad revenue.
• Transformative Use: We extract text-based instructions to help users cook in real-time, encouraging deeper engagement with the creator's original content.

4. How We Use AI

To transform video data into cooking steps, we use third-party Artificial Intelligence (AI) services, primarily the Google Gemini API.

• Data Usage: When you submit a URL, relevant transcript data is sent to the AI for extraction.
• Privacy Standards: Our AI providers operate under enterprise-grade privacy agreements. Your data is used only to generate your recipe and is not used to train global AI models.

5. Third-Party Partners

We only share data with service providers necessary for app functionality:

• Authentication: Clerk handles secure login.
• Subscriptions: RevenueCat manages Google Play billing.
• Exports: Instacart receives data only if you trigger a “Send to Cart” action.
• YouTube: By using this app, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

6. How to Delete Your Data

You have full control over your information. You may request deletion in two ways:

• In-App: Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile and all saved recipes from our database.
• Via Web: If you no longer have the app installed, you can submit a deletion request at chefsclips.com/delete-account or email support@chefsclips.com.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain records.

8. Children's Privacy

ChefsClips is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure database storage. While no system is 100% secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access.

10. Legal Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

We respect your rights to access, correct, and port your data. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

11. Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this policy (such as adding analytics or changing how we use AI), we will notify you via email or a prominent notice inside the app before the changes take effect.
